Remarkable system capable of transforming a 2d retinal image into 3d world we perceive. What we see isn"t the same thing as what is out there in reality, it is a mental representation created by our brain based on the info it receives from our eyes. Our eyes are only able to see a small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum (wavelengths between 380- 760nm); anything outside of that range is beyond our ability to perceive. Light bounces of our surroundings: enters eye through pupil, travels through lens, reflected upside down on retina at back of eyeball, photoreactive receptors transform it into chemical signal, chemical signal forwarded to v1. Sclera white part of the eye (outer protective layer); covers everything except cornea. Iris donut shaped contractile tissue that controls amount of light entering eye; coloured part of eye. Pupil hole in iris through which light enters eye.
