PSYC 334 Chapter Notes - Chapter 14: Rorschach Test, Projective Test, Content Validity
Document Summary
Psychologists conduct assessments, in which tests are used in conjunction with historical data, face to face contact, interview procedures, and experience to test hypothesis about individuals. They don"t only assert sanity on one single test. Ability for psychologists to accurately make inferences have always been questioned especially with the rorschach. Projective tests like the rorschach are the most controversial/ misunderstood psychological tests. Attacked on a variety of scientific/ statistical grounds; yet the test usage in the us is continued to be the most widely used test in clinical settings. Five projective testing instruments most frequently used in clinical settings (ex. tat and rorschach) Widely used yet has severe psycho-metrical problems. Hypothesis proposes that when people attempt to understand an ambiguous or vague stimulus, their interpretation of that stimulus reflects their needs, feelings, experiences, prior conditioning, thought processes, and so forth. Ex. boy who is frightened looks into dark room sees shadow interprets as monster projecting his fear onto the shadow.
