Last of the three historic monotheistic faiths that arose in the middle east, coming after judaism. Islam submission signifies commitment of its adherence to live in total submission to god, people who profess it are called muslims: one who submits to god . Qur"an islamic scripture: presents islam as universal and primordial faith of all the prophets, and those who have faith in god: one sovereign lord, creator, sustainer of all things. Islam is god"s eternal way for the universe. Human beings may voluntarily reject god but on day of judgement they will face consequences of their choice: rewarded for faith or punished for rejection. Conversion: repeating before two muslims the shahadah profession of faith. I bear witness that there is no god except god, and i bear witness that muhammad is the messenger of god. Anyone who does this legally becomes a muslim. 622 ce muhammad"s hijrah (migration) from mecca to medina. 632 muhammad dies; leadership passes to caliph.
