What the hills are alive with: in defense of the sounds of nature. Sounds that we appear to value the most and are relevant to an aesthetics of nature are those sounds produced in and by nature. Sound of the wind depends on what it is blowing: raises problems about how to individuate sounds of nature by their causes. Judgments are guided by artwork, but the are significantly underdetermined by that object: our aesthetic judgments should be potentially universal (agreement requirement)
