Facebook is interfering with our real friendships, distancing us from each other. We need professional carers more and more, because the threat of societal breakdown. Loneliness in one of the irst things americans spend their money achieving, for example a house in the suburbs. The drive for isolaion has always been in tension with the impulse to cluster in communiies that cling and sufocate. Before facebook, digital technology was enabling our tendency for isolaion to an unprecedented degree. Facebook users had slightly lower levels of social loneliness the sense of not feeling bonded with friends- but signiicantly higher levels of family loneliness .
