Sanctuary mission is to teach people the necessary skills for creating and sustaining nonviolent lives and nonviolent systems, believe in possibilities of peace. Sanctuary program should be a strong, resilient, structures, tolerant, caring, innovative and nonviolent community; clients making progress in their own recovery within a connected community. E(cid:272)og(cid:374)itio(cid:374) that safet(cid:455) a(cid:374)d (cid:272)o(cid:373)fo(cid:396)t a(cid:396)e(cid:374)(cid:859)t the sa(cid:373)e thi(cid:374)g and that change can be uncomfortable. Results of a sanctuary community include decreased staff turnover, decreased use of coercive measures, decreased critical incidents/staff injuries/client injuries, greater satisfaction for everyone, and innovative problem solving. Healthy and constant communication in order to allow for understanding, sharing in problem solving and conflict resolution, no power struggles, within assumptions about behavior, passing of information.
