Weekly objectives: define key systems theory terminology (use posted handout to help you select the required terms, discuss how nursing might incorporate systems theory in nursing practice. Everything within the health care system is interrelated and interdependent. Adaptive system models help health professionals understand how interrelationships among different parts of the system contribute to its overall functioning at micro/macro levels. Help nurses collaborate effectively with other disciplines having different agendas/priorities to achieve common goal each part of the system supports the system as a functional, ordered whole. System boundaries separate the system from the environment distinguishes between what belongs in the system and what lies outside. Outcomes referred to as output influenced by changes in the system.
