BUS 347 Chapter Notes - Chapter 3: Psychoacoustics, Classical Conditioning, Learning
Document Summary
Learning: refers to a relatively permanent change in behaviour that is caused by experience. Vicarious learning:learning through a situation that you are not experiencing yourself. Incidental learning: is some form of accidental / indirect / additional / unplanned learning within an informal or formal learning situation. Behavioural learning theories: assume that learning takes place as the result of responses to external events, as opposed to internal thought processes. Classical conditioning: occurs when a stimulus that naturally elicits a response is paired with another stimulus that initially does not elicit a response on its own. Unconditioned stimulus (ucs): the item that naturally causes the stimulus. Conditioned stimulus (cs): it did not initially cause stimulus. Conditioned response (cr): is now caused by the conditioned stimulus cs. Associative learning: consumers learn association between stimuli in a rather simple fashion without more complex processes such as memory or cognition taking place. Helps prevent decay of associations in memory.
