Authentic leadership is relational, created by leaders & followers together. Reciprocal process b/c leaders affect followers & vice versa. Results not just from leader"s efforts, but also from response of followers. Views authentic leadership as sth that can be nurtured in a leader. Authentic leadership dvlps in ppl over a lifetime & can be triggered by major life events. Process in which indivs understand themselves (strengths & weaknesses) & impact they have on others. Incl. reflecting on core values, identity, emotions, motives & goals, and coming to grips w/ who you really are at the deepest level. Being aware of & trusting own feelings. When leaders know themselves & have clear sense of who they are & what they stand for, they have a strong anchor for their decisions & actions.
