Embezzlement- to take money funds that belongs to someone else. Obtaining goods under false pretenses- misrepresenting the truth to obtain goods that belong to someone else. Structural functionalism- a sociological theory that explains how society functions according to the structure of a system of interrelated parts. Conflict theories- theories originating primarily with marx that focus on the unequal distribution of power in society- due to class, race, or gender. Marxism- a school of thought developed by karl marx arguing that society must be understood in terms of social conflict, class relations, and the inequalities caused by capitalism; marxists promote revolution by the working class. Hall noted that with the beginning of business and trade a new economic class of traders and industralists emerged who needed protection for their property and other interests. Intra class crime- crime in which the victim and offender are from the same social group; by contrast, inner class crime takes place between different social groups.
