Exact nature of relationship between poverty & violence not well understood. Children"s peer relations make unique & essential contributions to each child"s social & emotional development. One of strongest predictors of later involvement in antisocial behavior is early rejection by peers. Social rejection by peers while young - presents powerful risk factor for delinquency in adolescence & antisocial behavior throughout life. Aggressive behavior appears to be prominent reason for rejection by peers. Aggressive children more likely than nonaggressive children to be rejected by peers. Children are not always rejected because they are aggressive.
