Negotiating pleas, developing trial strategies, managing witness, arguing conditions of bail, recommend sentences to court, appealing sentences deemed too lenient. An information is a document that briefly outlines an allegation that a person has contravened a criminal law in a certain location during a specified period. Charges are not laid in of all violent crimes and property crimes that are cleared by the police. Reasons for not charging include the victim being too reluctant to cooperate, suspect dying, suspect being committed to an psychiatric facility or being under 12. Legal considerations- the reliability and likely admissibility of available evidence and the credibility of potential witnesses. Crown must give approval before the police can lay a charge.
