Death rate of children under 5 fallen from 148/1000 to fewer than 65/1000 children. Avg. life expectancy in developing countries increase from 40-65 years. Diseases like small pox, polio etc. are eliminated + progress in reducing burden of vaccine-preventable diseases. Gain better understanding of how to address global health issues. Gain better understanding of the most important global health challenges that remain + address them most efficiently. Health of people is always a concern diseases not limited to national boundaries. Diseases spread from one country to the next epidemic/pandemic. Access to health services requires technical cooperation to establish standards for drug safety set protocols for treatment of certain health problems (ex. Develop an aids vaccine to serve needs of low-income countries. Promote hand washing, bicycle/motorcycle helmets, knowledge of hiv/aids. Large scale screening for diabetes, hypertension, eyesight of school children. Operation of a supplementary feeding program for poorly nourished children.
