Robert dziekanski arrived at yvr on october 14, 2007 at about 4 o"clock in the aternoon, and cleared immigraion checks required for internaional visitors but had diiculies retrieving his luggage. Did not clear customs for more than 8 hours became increasingly agitated. When he cleared customs, his behaviour atracted the atenion of border patrol oicers: walked aimlessly, talked loudly to himself, picked up furniture and moved it around. Sweaing profusely, and did not respond to atempts to communicate with him. Border patrol oicers secured and cleared the area, then summoned the rcmp. Atempted to calm him down by talking to him behaviour was sill agitated, and picked up a computer monitor and threw it on the loor. Oicers discharged a weapon, then he stumbled and fell to the loor, screaming and convulsing. Atempted to restrain him by kneeling on him and handcuing him.
