PSYC 300W Chapter Notes - Chapter 1: Anomie Belle, Sleep Deprivation
Document Summary
The assigned readings from this week examined on the topic of human sleep. Yetish et. al (2015) paper provided insights on the evolution of the sleep pattern of pre- industries, with the findings and claiming that sleep has not really changed over the revolution. Contrasting from their paper, de la lgsia et al. (2016) disagreed with such view. They criticized about the focus and the method used in their study, while also included additional information to explain his claim that sleep pattern of people now and in the past have altered. Yetish also made an attempt in another paper to answer these critics. Research on ancestral sleep does have a stand, yet, only a limited one. It is not to say that studies about ancestral sleeping patterns (yetish et al, 2015) are useless. They provide us with the basic understanding and to further investigation on such topic.
