The government portrayed in this text is pretty extreme, although jolu have experienced this before due to his race. Some people having more of a chance to participate in organizations for resistance. Main character is middle class white man him having privilege to take up the position of leader. Things will be worse for jolu because of his skin colour. Jolu already understands what is it like to undergo injustices that marcus is talking about. Jolu chooses not to participate in the activist movement because of his race thinking he will be more heavily punished. First time that marcus quotes something other than his own opinion. Quote saying that when the government is no longer doing its job it"s the peoples" job to overthrow it and provide a different government. Marcus actively working against the government, but this quote is from a government document, which gives him the right to do so. Importance that this is in a classroom setting.
