Not just what is deviance, but also what creates deviance. Deviance is related to sociological imagination: deviance is not just an act of agency, but a sociological phenomenon as well. Deviance is an outcome of a process rather than a phenomenon to explain. Tolerable deviance: deviance that violates a normative code but is not considered a threat to the collective. Deviance is something that is outside of the norm and needs to be corrected.
