Adaptations depend on environment and characteristics of organisms in it. Not guided by any intuition or goal, just happens. Competition: for survival, small variation in characteristic give some advantages over others for resources. Adaptation: when creatures with successful genes survive longer and reproduce so eventually most individuals with have these adaptations. Naturalistic fallacy: wrong assumption that adaptations are all good. Domain specific adaptations: attributes that evolved to meet a particular challenge, but are not useful when dealing with other challenges.
