Study the social causes of death- figure out how to live better; To achieve a greater understanding of the social world, one"s self, others, etc. Socially conscious hip hop movement: "ghetto story" (song, focus on lyrics) Connection between how society works (its problems) and how it relates to our personal lives (and our problems). Larger social issues and history shape the context within which our troubles arise. Helps understand the fifth dimension- "the social" (brym).
