Oedipus by sophocles is a grecian play about fate. Within the play, king oedipus is approached about a plague that is affecting the people of thebes. Oedipus, who is already a king and hero of the state, takes on the responsibility of saving thebes yet again in order to restore balance to the kingdom and the people of it. He finds out the thebes is in disarray as a result of the unsolved murder of king laius. Oedipus who unknowingly is the murderer of the past king, vows to find the murderer and send him into exile in order to restore balance and peace to thebes. Eventually, oedipus unsolves the murder and realizes that he is the one who committed the crime many years before he was crowned as king.
