This chapter explains the characteristics of digital info and how those characteristics result in a particular type of communication that can be summed up as interactive. Web 2. 0 focuses primarily on the functioning of search engines (all hail our lord and saviour, google) Newness can be described in di erent ways so it is hard to come up with a concrete de nition of new media. T. v. companies will release brand new seasons of an old show, or an entirely new show, this is technically new media. However, it is important to take into account that television, as a media platform, has been around now for decades which makes it pretty old. With that being said, the internet is new, having only been invented in 1983 and the world wide web being invented in 1990.
