Heinrich schliemann was said to have been the discoverer of the mainland mycenaean civilization. Late helladic i and ii 1675-1425 (mycenaean) Late helladic iiia 1425-1340 ( ) Late helladic iiib 1340-1190 ( ) Late helladic iiic 1190-1020 ( ) The eh was an important and rich time, walled cities/monumental architecture/foreign trade and increased metal use. The mh culture is famous for its minyan and matt painted ceramics with a lower civilization than it displaced. Around 1700, just before the lh period, shaft graves began to appear. The wealth and art pulled from these are unparalleled. The finds seem to suggest a sudden increase in tempo of mycenaean culture however we do not know if its from mixing of blood/loot/metal trade or what exactly made them so rich. The period of the shaft graves to the fall of knossos is the lh i-iiia.
