Friendships are more intense and intimate as social cognition and effortful control advance. Targeted kid that is seen as weaker then the bully. Family life: insecure attachment, stressful, hostile family (there is something going on at home with insecure relationship) Friends: find out how they are being bullied. When you have friends you will be less likely to be bullied. Decrease in self esteem, poorer body image and increase in depression because you look different. Tend to have older boy friends (gain status) Risks: increase if drugs, alcohol use, eating disorders, relational bullying. If too early and too quick, an increase in depression (appear as anger) Increase of anxiety, afraid of sex than peers. Diet deficiencies: iron, calcium, zinc, others decrease after puberty. Anemia: insufficient iron, esp. girls because of periods.
