Frhd 2100: chapter 4 pages 96-124, sexual arousal and response. Organizing and activating influences: hormones organize and activate behaviour. Influence (organize) then motivate (activate: i. e. sex hormones predispose animals toward stereotypical gender role behaviors in mating (organizing effect) and facilitate sexual response/desire (activating effect, testosterone activates the sex drives of both men and women. Female sexual behaviour: estrogen and progesterone promote change during puberty and maintaining menstrual cycle. None of the 3 models capture all women. The enigmatic orgasm: to interpret an orgasm is very difficult to explain yet most people know what it feels like, not sure if everyone"s orgasms are the same. Kinds of female orgasms: sigmund freud thought there were two orgasms: the clitoral orgasm and the vaginal orgasm, master and johnson only able to find one orgasm whether it be from the clitoral or vaginal stimulation.
