Learning disabilities: termed by the dsm-v, generally have average or above average intelligence yet they do not achieve the same academic levels as their peers. Number of disorders which may affect the acquision, organization, retention, understanding or use of verbal and non verbal information. Learning disabilities are distinct from impairments in one or more processes related to perceiving, thinking, remembering or learning. Range in severity and may interfere with the acquition of: oral language, reading, written language and mathematics. May involve trouble with organizational skills, social perception, social interaction and perspective taking. Each province and territory have developed their own definitions. Karl was assessed at end of grade 3 before his 9th bday. During assessment he worked hard but was fidgety. Psychologist thought it was a fair and accurate estimate of karl"s ability. From the psychologists notebook standardized tests, results are interpreted in terms of age equivalency, standard scores and percentiles. Testing included the wechsler intelligence scale for children (wisc-iv)
