Mission of interpretation and reframing is to provide a new way of restorying and understanding thoughts, feelings, and behaviours which often results in new ways of making meaning. Egalitarian, empathic approach to influencing skills will be welcomed by most of your clients. Meanings are close to core client experiencing. Encourage clients to explore their own meanings and values in more depth from their own perspective. Questions to elicit meaning are a vital first step. Ask if the are interested in examine meaning of their life through discernment (an approach to meaning and purpose) These questions often bring out emotions, and bring out meaning in clients thoughts. This is an opening for client to explore issues there is not a final answer for but rather a deeper awareness of possibilities. Reflecting meaning involves client direction (client suggests) Interpretation and reframing implies therapist direction (suggestions of counsellor)
