Someimes, the ferilized egg is placed in the uterus of a surrogate mother who carries the baby throughout pregnancy. Studies of irst generaion children of these families indicates that social and emoional development is normal. Only about 1/3 is successful more likely to have twins/triplets, a baby with low birth weight or birth defects, and the cost is expensive.
