Theoretical issues: meaningful differences among individuals: trait psychologists are interested in determining the ways in which people are different from each other. any way a person may differ from another amy be identi ed as a personality trait. Psychology: includes the study of other forms of individual differences in addition to abilities, aptitudes and intelligence. It is a quantitative approach as they want to know how much they differ on average. Combine primary traits in various amounts they will nd the unique qualities in every person. Colour wheel : consistency over time: personality traits are thought to be consistent over time and thought to have a biological basis while attitudes are less consistent over time as interests and opinions. We may change obviously through certain turning points in our life such as a big event. Note: even if a trait is consistent over time, the way it manifests itself might change over time. ex: child to adult.
