Average time adolescents spend with media in one day is 7 hours and 38 minutes. Using multiple media simultaneously is becoming more prevalent. 58% of all shows in 1994-95 contained intentional physical violence. Shows are 15x more likely to have a pro violence or neutral message. Dramas and movies contain the most amount of violence. Over 3 years there was an increase in violence in comedies and music. A longitudinal study found that violent people are no more likely to watch violent tv than nonviolent people. Cathartic effect of tv watching: watching violent tv and movies may help relieve stress or aggressive impulses. Vast majority of studies has found that this is not true. The common results of violence in media studies is that tv violence increases violent behaviour.
