Therefore, combined digit span with the simultaneous performance of a range of other tasks such as reasoning, learning, and comprehension, which were assumed to depend on this limited-capacity system. Study: participants were given a sequence of digits that they were continually asked to rehearse out loud at the same time as they were performing other cognitive task. 1 experiment involved presenting a simple reasoning task in which students had to verify a statement about the order of 2 letters, a test that correlates with verbal intelligence.
