Process of social research: people combine a set of principles, outlooks and ideas with a collection of practises and techniques and strategies to produce knowledge. Authority: when you accept something as being true because someone in a position of authority says it is true. this method is quick and cheap. Limitations: easy to overestimate, authorities may not be equally dependable, they may speak about. Elds they know nothing about ex: halo effect. They can also use authority to try and convince individuals and too much authority is dangerous to a democratic society. Tradition you accept it as true because its the way things have always been some traditional knowledge goes off as prejudice, can become distorted as well as not having a complete understanding authority of the past .
