Victims are also studied to determine what kind of personal and social experiences they have by criminologist. They try to figure out what propelled the victim toward victimization. Victim-proneness: the degree of an individual"s likelihood of victimization. Von hentig created a typology of victims based on what he saw as biological or situational weakness. This weakness could be physically, socially, psychologically, or environmentally based. Benjamin mendelson typology was based on the degree of guilt the victim brought to the criminal event. Mendelson also developed the concept of penal couple which describes the relationship between victim and criminal. He also came up with the term victimal which described the victim counterpart of the criminal. And victimity which signed the opposite of criminality.
