No significant functional changes in gall bladder, liver, or pancreatic secretions. Associated with poor oral hygiene, gum disease, malnutrition, diabetes, and drugs that dry the mouth. Old age bring receding gums which exposes more tooth area -> can be slowed w/ good oral hygiene. Not predicted to be as big of a problem in future teeth also wear down over lifetime of use, but not significantly. Taste taste buds (sensory organs of taste) predominantly located on tongue. Chemical is food activate taste buds when they are dissolved in saliva. Each taste bud contains multiple types of taste cells and serves to synthesize taste sensations.
