Document Summary

Data are the things given for us to turn into information. On its own, data can be very messy, you should sort it to at context in a data table. The rows of data table correspond to individual cases (recording characteristics) People who we experiment on are subjects or participants but other non human participants are called experimental units. The characteristics recorded about each individual or case are called variables and these identify what has been measured. Data tables are for relatively small data sets. Most common database to store data is in a relational database where two or more separate data tables are linked together so info can be merged across. In statistics, all analysis are performed on a single data table but often the data is retrieved from a relational database. There are two types of data: categorical and quantitative.
