Good sense of humor different in women and men. Both sexes rate a good sense of humor as important in a relationship. However, they value different parts of that differently: men prefer the receptivity, women prefer the ability to produce humor. Men do not prefer a "funny" woman, neutral. Women prefer production of humor and receptivity equally. Less for the one-night stand and short-term. Chose production of humor more than the receptivity to their own humor production. Rate of woman"s laughter more indicative of interests in a mixed-sex date. Fewer deleterious genetic mutations = more competence to be able to produce humor. If humor = genetic quality and laughter = sexual interests. Production of humor to prove competence to woman. Woman has much higher investment, signs of genetic quality are very important. Men want to see sexual interest because mate access is harder. Female and male mcmaster students given questionnaire.
