Facial expressions, body language and gestures are also apart of it. Examples of these mediums are morse code and semaphore, sign language. Emblems: body movements that stand on their own as a replacement for words. Illustrators: body movements that accent or work in unison with what is said verbally. Regulators: body movements that relieve tension or satisfy self or bodily needs. Affect displays: body movements that tell others about our emotional state. Emblems convey a clear and obvious message to all members of the same culture or community e. g inglorious bastards clip. They hold no meaning on their own but get their meaning from the message they convey (their context) Nonverbal cues that control and manage the flow of communication between people. Turn taking: the process of deciding who will speak at any given time during a conversation.
