Up to 14 years in prison for assistance in suicide. Up to life year in prison for euthanasia (considered 1st (life 10) or 2nd (life 10) degree murder). Specific deterrence is supposed to prevent criminal from doing offence again, but most who have committed as/euthanasia are usually not going to do it again (do not have criminal background as the typical offender population). General deterrence sends the message that it will not be tolerated and will make people think twice.
