Europe was a peacemaker of world affairs, both usa and ussr were focused on internal development. Wwii brought soviets and americans to europe to transform relation with each other. Russian, german, austro-hugarian and ottoman empires were demolished by the great war. The usa and the ussr rose emerged as political superpowers after wwii with military capabilities including weapons of mass destruction. The cold war saw its beginning with the collapse of the alliance btw th uk, ussr and usa. 1945- the cold war gave rise to nuclear arms race that challenged post war diplomacy of wwii. Origins of wwii theory- versailles demanded the german take full responsibility for the war in reparation, in response germany felt the need to build an autocratic elite who were responsible for the great war.
