Document Summary
De ned by psychologists as the process of acquiring information or behaviour through new experiences. We learn to prepare for and expect speci c events - classical conditioning. We learn to repeat acts that bring reward - operant conditioning. And we learn new behaviour through observation, language, and experiences unique to us - cognitive learning. Learning that certain events occur together is associative learning. A stimulus is an event or situation that evokes a response. Repentant behaviour is behaviour that occurs as an automatic response to stimulus. Operant behaviour is behaviour that operates on the environment producing consequences. Cognitive learning is the acquisition of mental information whether by observing events, watching others or through language. Behaviourism is the view that psychology should be an objective science that studies behaviour without reference to mental process. Classical conditioning is a type of learning in which one learns to link two or more stimuli and anticipate events.
