Homeostasis: the tendency to maintain a balanced or constant internal state. Push to reduce drives to get back to a steady physiology state. Incentives: positive or negative environmental stimulus that motivates behavior. When drives push and incentives pull are in the same direction, the motivation is strong. When in conflict, motivation is weaker: arousal theories.
