Your moods, urges, and ideas are biological happenings. Biological psychology: a branch of psychology concerned with the links between biology and behaviour. (some biological psychologists call themselves behavioural neuroscientists, neuropsychologists, behaviour geneticists, physiological psychologists, or biopsychologists). Body"s information system: built from interconnected cells (neurons). Biopsychological systems: a system composed of subsystems that are composed of smaller subsystems (i. e. cells organs system individual family community etc. By examining these systems forwards and backwards and how they interact, we can understand how we take, process, interpret, store, and use information. Neurons: a nerve cell; the basic building block of the nervous system. Each consists of a cell body and its branching fibres. Refer to figure 2. 2 in psychology textbook for a diagram of the neuron. Dendrites: the bushy, branching extensions of a neuron that receive messages and conduct impulses toward the cell body.
