Environmental/learning: if we have experience with the world, we are able to understand things in a way that reflects our past knowledge and experiences. Ethology: innate aspects of perception, loud bang = scream and run away. Cognitive developmental: the impact of knowledge on perception, able to use your logic. We now know that babies do feel pain; they cry, their heart rate increases. Sensitivity to touch can be demonstrated even in the womb when you rub your belly. Haptic perception: recognition of objects by touch (if you have an apple in your hand but can"t see it, you would know it was an apple just by the way it feels due to past experiences) Babies will react with facial expressions to bad or good smells, and bad or good tastes. If you introduce sweet foods first then they wont eat the boring ones (carrots, potatoes, beans) later on. Takes 5 times to develop a tolerance to a food.
