Document Summary

A lot has been written in regard to distorting forces that are able to shape scientific discourse. However, when we speak of the politicization of science, one is accepting that real science is apolitical, certain and even value-free. Until the world can comprehend how science itself can breed controversy and conflict, everyone is not going to be going in the right direction as they work toward verdicts. The author argues for environmental contestants between the experts that do not need to be linked to politics or ideology and instead linked to science in itself. If science is perceived as much of the problem as it is a solution, it needs to be rethought in regard to solving current environmental issues. That is, if science continues to focus on external variables, it will continue to miss the larger picture of what is actually occurring.
