Document Summary
Varies in amplitude which affects perception in brightness. Varies in wavelength which affects perception in color (hue) Varies in purity which affects perception in saturation. Lens focuses light rays falling on the retina. Pupil regulates the amount of light passing to the rear of the eye. Retina the neural tissue lining the inside back surface of the eye. Optic disk hole in the retina that corresponds to the (cid:858)(cid:271)li(cid:374)d(cid:859) spot. Fovea tiny spot in the centre of the retina where visual acuity (sharpness of vision) is the greatest. Visual receptors (in the retina): consists of rods and cones which are organized into receptive fields. Rods play a key role in night and peripheral vision and greatly outnumber cones. Cones play a key role in day and color vision and provide greater acuity than rods. Receptive fields collections of rods and cones that funnel signals to specific visual cells in the retina or the brain.
