PSY210H5 Chapter Notes - Chapter 3: Gonorrhea, Caffeine, Syphilis
Document Summary
In utero babies can have a variety of influences, especially the event s that affect the mother during the pregnancy. Events that happen during childbirth could also affect the child. Pregnancy is often divided into trimester, which are three periods of three months each, with different stages happening each trimester: first trimester is the zygote, second is the embryo, and the third is the fetus. Approx. the first two weeks of life. Gradually, tendrils from the zygote penetrate the blood vessels in the wall of the uterus: this is the point when the zygote is physiologically dependent with the mother. Once the zygote is properly implanted, the second period starts. During this period, the inner mass of developing organisms differentiates into three layers: the ectoderm. The nails, hair, parts of the teeth, the outer layer of the skin and the skin glands, and sensory cells and the nervous system: the mesoderm, and the endoderm organs.
