Document Summary

I. e. when means of production come under control of the people who produce capital through their labour: simplistic reductive suggest only 1 way of analyzing religious practices, as ideologies. Christianity very popular and dominating considered to be hegemonic religious culture. Interpellation suggest person is not a dupe participating in a false consciousness unlike. What i find intriguing is marx"s view on religion. He refers to religion as an ideology which he argues functions to keep those who are oppressed content with the exploitation they blindly face. For marx, this ideology masks and legitimates inequities, as it allows for one group to rule over another unquestionably. Without religion, he proposes that people will see their exploitation more vividly. It is interesting how he reduces religion to a form of power and an idea of comfort. Today"s contemporary society thrive off economics and politics.
