The food we ingest provide building block molecules that can be broken down and used as raw materials for growth, maintenance, repair and as a source of energy. Also known as nutrients: provides structural materials and energy. Water, carbohydrates, proteins and fats are macronutrients: water. Water helps dissolve and eliminate the waste products of digestion. Severe hydration can result in hallucinations, heart stroke and death. Every day humans lose 3 litres of water as sweat, urine, feces. Tap water and bottled water are supposing to be equally clean, 40% of bottled water is from the municipal tap water. Many chose to hydrate with sport drinks, which contains many additives, sugars and calories. The energy required to transport water far exceeds the energy required to purify an equivalent amount of tap water: carbs.
