The scientific study of interactions between organisms and their environment How interactions with the physical environment changes the environment Community isnt just one specific species o All the species Ecosystem is community in the abiotic ecosystem How are climates distributed on Earth? Climate- the average atmospheric conditions over a long-term Everyday changes on day to day basis- weather What determines primarily the climate is the amount of sun o Angle that the light hits the earth o Amount of earths atmosphere passed through Higher latitudes receive less solar energy than the equator Wind patterns, the air tends to fall o It picks up a lot of moisture making deserts o Around 30 degrees north o Wind travels to the equator and the moisture falls out of the air to produce precipitation (tropics) o Winds are rising 60 degrees north and 60 degrees south and as they rise they fall at the poles and you get a lot of moisture and dry areas at the north and south poles
