Build new strategies for the maintenance of health: conceptual health studies: looks at the broader perspective of social structures and individual and local experiences. Ex: caring studies, social gerontology, cultural studies: there is no single or correct way to engage in critical health studies, case study: hearing the voices. Took an interdisciplinary approach, social sciences and humanities: multi: many discrete disciplinary perspectives in one particular study. People work individually but bring their conclusions together. People stay in their discipline, little to no interaction. Which can limit new insights on topics, the links between aspects remain invisible. Inter refers to a collaborative process by which researchers draw on their knowledge from various disciplines in order to understand a particular topic. Research tends to be conducted together within the guidelines of each disciplinary technique, with the results reported by each field. Not sure enough for historians or social policy world: trans moves away from disciplines to understand a phenomenon or a topic.
