Ethics: is the study of morality using the tools and methods of philosophy: ethics is also known as moral philosophy, descriptive ethics: the study of morality using the methodology of science. Purpose is to investigate the empirical factors of morality- the actual (cid:271)elief, (cid:271)eha(cid:448)iours a(cid:374)d pra(cid:272)ti(cid:272)es that (cid:272)o(cid:374)stitute people"s (cid:373)oral experiences. In ethics we ask: how ought we live. In descriptive ethics we ask: how do we in fact live. Metaethics: study of meaning and justification of basic moral belief: what it means for an action to be right or for a person to be good. Applied ethics: the use of moral norms and concept to resolve practical moral issues: bioethics: applied ethics focused on health care, medical science and medical technology. Medical ethics refers to ethical problems in medical practice.
